Foundation Shade Help

Step 1: Skin Tone vs. Undertone (Yep, They’re Different)

Skin tone is your overall skin colour — fair, medium, tan, deep.

Undertone is the subtle tone underneath your skin — and it doesn’t change, even if you tan.

Cool undertones:

  • Your skin has a pink, red, or bluish hue
  • Silver jewellery suits you
  • Veins look blue or purple

Warm undertones:

  • Your skin leans golden, yellow or peachy
  • Gold jewellery pops on you
  • Veins look green

Neutral undertones:

  • A mix of both
  • Both gold and silver jewellery look good on you
  • Veins? Can’t really tell — could be green or blue

Shortcut tip: Burn before you tan? You’re likely cool-toned.
Tan easily? Probably warm-toned.

Step 2: Test It on Your Jawline, Not Your Hand

Your face might be a slightly different colour to your neck — especially if you’ve been good about SPF (go you).

Swipe foundation along your jawline and blend into your neck. If it disappears? That’s your shade.
If it stands out or looks like you’ve painted it on? Try again.

Step 3: Pick the Finish That Fits Your Vibe

Now for the fun bit. What do you want your skin to look like?

Mineral Matte Foundation

  • Liquid that sets like powder
  • Great for combo or oily skin
  • Our fullest coverage option

Youthful Glow Foundation

  • Medium coverage
  • Natural radiance without the shine
  • Ideal for dry, dull, or mature skin

Mineral Tint

  • Tinted moisturiser vibes
  • Super sheer and natural
  • No stress about blending — just slap it on and go

Hot Tip:

Still unsure? You can upload a selfie (in natural light) to ChatGPT and ask it to help figure out your undertone. Yes, really.

One More Thing...

You might need a lighter shade in winter, a deeper one in summer.
You might wear different foundations on different days.
It doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong — it just means you’re human.

Just ask. I'm always happy to help, I’ll never leave you hanging with a bottle that’s three shades too orange.
