Using your derma-roller (this is important)
This is your face - it's better to be safe than sorry. I strongly recommend you purchase some rubbing alcohol (in a mist bottle if you can), but you can use Hydrogen Peroxide if you have some handy (unless that's just me).
Spray your roller with Isopropyl Alcohol or Hydrogen Peroxide before each use, thoroughly clean your face, you don't want any make up or product left behind (hot tip: a Magic Minky would help with this).
Clean your hands and don't touch your face. Never touch the needles on the roller, and never lie the roller on any surface - sit it in it's case at all times to prevent contamination and so as to not damage the needles.
If you have any concerns that your face might not be clean enough, spray some alcohol or peroxide on a cotton pad and wipe this pad all over your face (you can buy rubbing alcohol swabs for this if you prefer).
Divide your face into six sections;
- Forehead
- Left side
- Left cheek and left side of nose
- Right side
- Right cheek and right side of nose
- Chin
Important note: avoid any broken or irritated skin, acne, blemishes or rosacea
Take your clean derma-roller in your clean hand and hold it against your clean face. Start with 5-10 rolls (left and right) across the forehead, then 5-10 rolls (up and down) on each side of your face, then 5-10 rolls (left and right) across each cheek and side of the nose and then 5-10 rolls (left and right) on your chin.
Important note: lift the skin roller every time you change direction (eg from left to right to up and down) do not drag the roller across your face
You will feel a bit of tingly or prickling and experience some light redness, but there should be no pain or discomfort and definitely no blood. Once you have finished, spray your roller again and return to the case.
Wash your hands again before applying any serums, moisturisers or night creams that you use as part of your nightly routine. Use your derma roller every second night.
Once you have been using your derma-roller for a week, you can increase to 15-20 rolls per section, and then start using your derma-roller daily. The black derma-roller is available here, the white derma-roller is available here.
